Schools in UP to resume classes from Aug 16 with 50 pc attendance

The Uttar Pradesh government has issued an order of reopening the schools in the state. The High and intermediate schools in Uttar Pradesh will be reopened from August 16 with Covid-19 protocols in place.
The Government of Uttar Pradesh had earlier reopened schools for classes 9 to 12 and now it is likely to reopen schools for classes 6 to 8 from September 1. According to a local daily, Chief Minister Yogi Aditynath has directed officials to begin the process of admission for classes 6 to 8 under the Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Council.
In the recent review meeting of Team-9, CM Yogi Aditynath stated, “Classes can resume from September 1 after analysing the current situation of the coronavirus pandemic in Uttar Pradesh.”
The decision was taken owing to the decline in COVID-19 cases in the last few weeks. Yogi Adityanath had earlier announced the reopening of schools, colleges and universities from August 16 with 50 per cent capacity.
The Uttar Pradesh government has also issued rules and restrictions in regards to the reopening of schools for classes 6 to 8. The schools are expected to follow covid appropriate norms for the safety of students and teachers.
Several adjacent states to Uttar Pradesh have reopened schools for senior classes at 50 per cent capacity.
